Who is John Galt?

HEY. Welcome to mundane details of my life! So I borrowed 5 books from the library: 1. The Laws of Magic: Heart of Gold by Michael Pryor (the intro was horrible but it gets better. and who doesn't like magic? it's kinda like a watered down version of Artemis Fowl gained magical powers that he can actually use and started taking an interest in girls for a change. then again, maybe it isn't like Artemis Fowl) 2. The Science of Discworld by Terry Pratchett, Ian Stewart and Jack Cohen (HARD CORE SCIENCE inter-chapter-ized by random fiction (OR NOT? WOAHHH) of the wizards in Unseen University tinkering with a playworld they created called Roundworld. Sounds familiar?) 3. The Saga of Darren Shan: Vampire Mountain (Not much to say really. Like the rest in the series? No, Darren Shan doesn't live up to his name as the number one master of horror) 4. Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand (CHEEM. Words at pt 8 with 1000 pages? Man, it's quite hard to read, especially since the plot isn't rolling yet (only at page 50) I READ FOR THE PLOT AND ACTION, NOT FOR THE DEEP INSIGHTS INTO THE HUMAN CONDITION. Nice title, though. Atlas supports the Earth so when he shrugs, the Earth is shaken to is core by a catastrophic/apocalyptic/major event? Was it started by a singular entity=Atlas and was it caused by an act of indifference/complacency/irritation=shrugging? HMM) 5. Little Brother by Cory Doctorow (NICE. As you can tell from the title, talking about a big-brother-esque kinda authority. A bunch of teenage kids using their skills at technology/hacking/being paranoid in general fighting the institution? NICE. Bonus points: Neil Gaiman recommended it (which is what led me to read it in the first place). AND you can learn a bit more about computers/hacking) So that's the books covered WHEEE. SO. I'm also on a Work Experience/Attachment Programme where I'm attached to this Blood and Cancer clinic for 4 days. VERY COOL. Today I saw the doctor extract bone marrow and bone samples. The doctor also lent me this book, How Doctors Think by Jecome Groopman, M.D., and it's interesting, though a tad long-winded. VERY COOL THOUGH. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The writer doesn't have any new cool videos. SORRY! |
