Chocolate and Ember. 27 November 2008 9:13 pm
Yay! Another food review. I think it's gonna become a regular. To start off: On Tuesday (yeah, i know, quite a while back, but i forgot about the food... i hear gasps of shock), my mother brought me to this french restaurant. (without my dad and my sister to dissuade her from eating at such places. yeah, i know i have a soft heart. *sniffs*)

Anyways, the ambience was average but on the nice side, and the drink-of-the-day was something called a dragonana.... yeah. i know it sounds weird. it was a mix of dragonfruit and banana. naturally, i didn't drink such a vile healthy drink and neither did my mother. additionally, it was an ULTRA EXPENSIVE drink.

We ordered French Onion Soup (a must must try), Cod for main course, and to end it off, a chocolate torte. The French Onion Soup (i know, i love onion, so sue me) was excellent, best one i tasted in my life, and there is a very generous topping of cheese on the rich flavourful broth, so definitely a must-try if you ever go there. The Cod was all right. The texture was great, and the vegetables were good. The Cod (lols, i didn't realize i was capitalizing it. The Cod.) was served in some sorta vegetable sauce which main ingredient seemed to be carrot. hmm... not exactly my taste but i guess it went with the cod. there was also fried garlic on the cod, which contrasted rather nicely with the vegetable sauce. The dessert? Heaven on a plate. The chocolate torte is what i fondly refer to as a lava cake; i.e. a chocolate...thing with liquid chocolate inside. sounds familiar? i thought not. anyways, it was served warm with a boilin' hot melted banana with mocha sauce in it and an ultra ultra cold rum-and-raisin ice-cream. Great combination of temperature, especially when eaten all at one go.

To end, homemade chocolate was given. 4 in a box, so when split between me and me mam, 2 each. which was great, as there were only 2 flavours anyway: a white chocolate ball with coconut shavings and a dark chocolate ball with a dusting of chocolate powder.

Vis-a-vis can be located on the huuuuge slope leading up to my house's estate, or at the junction with Cheong Chim Nam road and.... some other road. (lol, i suck at roads)

Moving on to the next topic: Movies.

Recently, i watched city of ember with some of my secondary school seniors. the movie was all right, though i found it a little too slow-paced for my liking. a rather unsatisfying ending, but the acting was good. though my sec 3 senior found the male lead a tad too ugly.
