The dangers dihydrogen monoxide 17 October 2008 8:54 pm
Today in enrichment class, the trainer told us about the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide. It is really quite appaling. Please read the website before you continue reading.

Facts about Dihydrogen Monoxide

Scary, no? Actually, no.

The website was actually a hoax! It was created by 3 students: Eric Lechner, Lars Norpchen and Matthew Kaufmanand guess what? Dihydrogen monoxide is actually water. If you poke around the website a bit, you can pick up some clues. If you click on the supposed icons that make it look credible, for example, the EAC icon, it would just redirect you to the same page.

And the funny thing was everybody in class fell for it! When my friend asked me what does dihydrogen monoxide mean, i told her that it has two hydrogen molecules and one oxygen molecule, and yet it didnt even occur to me that it was water. So funny!!! My teacher wanted us to know the importance of testing the reliability of websites.

And guess what? There was a student who did a report on the harmful effects of hydrogen dioxide and submitted it to a science fair. He won. O_o

The truth about Dihydrogen Monoxide Very interesting. Tells about the people that fell for it and the people that created it.

The writer loves water and think that the organizations that actually believed this hoax and tried to ban it is...weird. Because they would be banning water.
